The Northern Pacific magazine was given a title “The Best Ecological Magazine” on The Fifth All-Russian Competition “Ecology of Russia—2000”. The interview with editor-in-chief of the magazine Sergey Vakhrin about this event opens the issue.
The greater amount of the materials is devoted to The First Russian-American Public Conference “Problems of Conserving the Biological Resources of the Bering Sea”, held in April, 5–7 in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The First All-Russian Film Festival “Water of Life” was held from the 10th till 15th of September in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. Journalist of telecompany “Veles” Tamara Savelyeva (Khabarovsk, Russia) writes about her impressions in the material “Strokes to the Future Portrait”. You may also read in this issue about the winners of the festival and comments of the participants.
